1975 Lincoln Continental Mark IV 2 Door Hardtop
For consignment, priced for the everyday man, this large and in charge Lincoln MK IV. Big steel panels, a padded vinyl roof, and plenty of legroom, allow you to stretch out and go for a cruise, all the while turning heads on Main Street!
Exterior
Those large steel panels are straight and original, and although the 29,548 miles on the odometer are unverifiable due to title mileage exemption, we're not inclined to disbelieve that. Aqua Blue Metallic drapes all the steel surfaces of this car, topped off with an aqua padded top featuring opera windows mounted in the "B" pillars. Working hidden headlights flank a massive Rolls-Royce style grille that protrudes from the hood. A near perfect chrome bumper wraps around the bottom. Thin banded and blue dressed stainless trim makes its way rearward circumnavigating the wheel wells, and rocker panels, ending at the rear bumper which is also pristine. Badging is all correct, gaps are well minded, and even exterior rear view mirrors are near perfect. Thin striped whitewall radials surround massive plated wheel covers, all original. Imperfections include a few scratches in the paint and a significant gash in one of the tires.
Interior
Light blue square tufted and buttoned velour bucket seats flank 2 leather pull down armrests in the center. The pattern and materials for the passengers in the rear, although they get a large bench and share a center armrest. Door panels have similar treatment and have wood grained panels intermixed with more blue velour and vinyl. Within the doors we note joystick controls for the mirror and seat, power windows, and power locks for the doors and windows. A showroom headliner is tightly hung above, and even the interior courtesy light works! Looking toward the dash we see applique wood grain with climate control, a clock, the speedometer, an original Philco AM/FM radio, and several warning lights, all framed by an aqua blue padded vinyl upper dash with no cracks or marring. Thick pile blue carpeting showing very little wear or fading is flooding the floors. The remarkable blue carpeted trunk complete with the carpeted spare tire cover and factory jack assembly is like icing on the cake.
Drivetrain
To propel this mass, within a clean, driver quality engine bay, is a 460ci V8 shoehorned into the space and rated at 223 horsepower. This is topped by a 4-barrel carburetor and backed by a 3-speed automatic C6 transmission. A Ford 9" rear axle with 2.75 gears propels this mass down the highway
Undercarriage
Clean and clear, virtually no rust except for the occasional and uneventful surface rust which has accumulated over the years, but certainly has not impeded the structural underpinnings of this big car. Independent coil spring front suspension, and a 4 link and coil spring rear suspension provide that cushy Lincoln ride and power disc brakes are seen on all 4 corners. A single exhaust meets a stock style muffler and heads out back.
Drive-Ability
A quick starter, and smooth, this car provides a beautiful ride, good handling, as well as bias free stopping. All conveniences were in working order except for the clock, and the seats were like sitting in my home favorite recliner. I can tell you from a test drive, there aren't enough O's in smooooooth, to describe the wonderful ride.
In the day this car was way out of reach for the masses, and now sits in near pristine condition awaiting its next driver who can just smile in the ride, and comfort this car has to offer. Very original, well maintained, and pampered, this example is sure to please even the most discriminating vintage '70's luxury car aficionado.
