1991 Chevrolet Camaro RS Convertible
For consignment, a 1991 version of the Camaro RS in convertible form with 94,277 non-verifiable miles. This car comes to us as a Z28 clone and is a garage kept, go anywhere, turn key car with its 305ci V8 engine, nice paint and interior, and a functioning A/C system, along with its long list of sporty attributes, good looks and great performance...Hey!! It's a Camaro!
Exterior
This version of the sporty Camaro is bathed in Medium Quasar Blue Metallic and has straight steel with well minded gaps throughout. The paint looks great and the car remains rust free. A neatly shaped front still retaining the throwback look from the originals but with a much more aero twist, no chrome, just the Quasar Blue Metallic and some black accenting around the grille and headlights. A bit of aero styling can be seen on the front quarters and rockers and it's all Quasar Blue including the sporty high rise cowl induction style hood and added scoops. The top is a manual operated top and shows in black canvas with a clear rear glass window. When it's down a neat black plastic tonneau covering hides it nicely. On back a small spoiler resides just aft of an added rear wing and some triangular edged wrap around tail lights and with the body matching neoprene bumper is blue format below. Snazzy polished 16-inch Progressive 5 spoke deep dish wheels are now on all 4 corners and wrapped with like new Falken rubber. The paint is all good with very few faults save for a few scuffs, scratches and inclusions on the lowers.
Interior
A swing of the sporty looking doors and we note plenty of aero molded plastic and vinyl mixing with some striped vinyl and black carpeting. A black industrial look houses the door actuator, power window toggle and the mirror joystick. Slipping inside we shake hands and butts with nicely shaped high back buckets that sport striped black tweed with a light background and some black accenting in cloth in the centers. Black side bolsters add to the look but we note tearing on the driver's outer bolster along with some light soiling and a cigarette burn on the driver's lower cushion. A rear seat delete is noted in the back More beautifully molded and sculpted vinyl and plastic for the center console and dash which both make use of the undulating line where nothing is squared off, gosh I'm glad the 80's styling is gone! All clean and good looking for the dash, complete with a black background for the factory instrument cluster. Black carpeting flooding the floors. Also noted is a killer stereo system with an AM/FM/CD player and some serious amps in the trunk!
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 305ci V8 installed. EFI is feeding the fossils to the powerful mill, and on the back is a T5 5-speed manual transmission. A 10 bolt rear axle also aids with this moving forward task! I can tell you and you will see in the photos that this engine and bay is simply gorgeous!
Undercarriage
A light peppering of surface rust is seen on a few cast suspension parts, but all unremarkable. Otherwise, stamped steel floor pans and rockers with some light patina form age but no rust on these items. Independent front suspension, and a torque arm with coil springs are in back. Power disc brakes and power drum brakes provide the stopping power, and a clean exhaust gives this engine plenty of pipe to exhale freely.
Drive-Ability
This car fired right up and on the test track performed as expected, with all functions working save for the power locks not operating and the tachometer not tracking rpm's. Having driven many a Camaro here at Classic Auto Mall, I'd have to say I did notice more power than usual coming from this one. I could say the force is strong with this one! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
With the added spoiler, skirting and hood, this car melts right into the Z28 look. A peek under the hood tells us things are all factory, which is great for the purists in the mix. All in very good condition, this car is a definite goer, but can also be viewed at any car show you may want to drive it to. Go ahead, get in and turn it over...well the engine, keep the wheels down on the ground, although they have a tendency to spin when you get goosey with your boot!
