1969 Chevrolet C10 Stepside Short Bed Pickup
For consignment, a 1969 Chevrolet C10 stepside shortbed pickup truck that might look like a spaceship to people in 1969 and is a resto modded version of an America's great light duty work truck. With the classic looks of a 1969 C10 sitting on the chassis of a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer you now have a killer looking package with modern reliability.
Exterior
Silver Metallic makes a striking appearance on our truck but what's most impressive is the monochromatic coverage on the exterior. That is, there are no ambler or red lights, chrome has been painted an argent gray, and even the wheels maintain the palette. The C10 body sits on 2004 Trailblazer chassis and hunkers down over 20-inch wheels on 55 series tires giving the old pickup an aggressive and modern stance. The LED tail lights appear clear and white and illuminate red and the tinted rear window blends with the grays and blacks on the truck and just looks darn cool. Gray planks in the bed are a perfect fit and alternate with the bed rails, the only shiny metal on the truck with the exception of the exposed chain links on the tailgate. And because the side steps are now part of the cosmetic show that is this truck, "no step" is quietly posted on each one and they define the pontoon fenders out back. We could not find any exterior flaws on this truck.
Interior
Gray and silver paint coat the metal door panels in clean, minimalistic style. Low back gray and white bucket seats take up the cab with a middle seat and armrest between them. They're in great shape and the broad white stripe provides some sportiness to a more modern interior that includes the steering wheels from a late model Chevrolet, leading to a modern gauge cluster sculpted into the dash. On the stock metal dash that's body colored we find an AM/FM radio over A/C controls in a colorful panel. The glossy glove box goes with the gray for contrast and should be included in your polishing regime. A Lokar shifter rises from the floor covered perfectly with black looped carpet and above us is an uncovered body colored ceiling. Clean, coordinated, and sharp is how we'd describe this interior.
Drivetrain
The underside of the hood has been Rhino coated and the engine bay itself is glossy silver and where we find a super clean 4.2 liter DOHC inline 6 cylinder engine rated at 275 horsepower and fed fuel via electronic injection. A 4L60E 4-speed automatic is the transmission onboard that sends power to the rear wheels and 3.42 gears. Power brakes are here too with discs on all four wheels.
Undercarriage
Clean and driver quality, meaning you won't have to polish parts underneath, but there's no oil, no grease, minimal surface rust, and zero invasive rust. The single exhaust flows through a big stock style muffler and exists discreetly under the rear valance. Independent front suspension is met with a 3-link along with coil springs and panhard bar in the back.
Drive-Ability
A fantastic stance and height, this truck just feels special wrapped around you. We mind the bumps and ride this modern iteration of a classic C10 out on the test loop where tracking, braking, turn-in, and visibility all score high. No errors here and all functionality operates as it should. Nice truck! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
When is a truck not a truck? When it's a show truck, of course! There's no hauling dirt in this beauty, it's purely for good looks, fun rides, and maybe carrying a trophy or two home. If you were wondering if you could drop a C10 onto a mid 2000's Trailblazer, well now you know and can avoid the work by simply stepping up to the stepside. Garage ready!
