2004 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
For consignment, a 2004 Chevrolet Corvette convertible with a title verified 71,237 actual miles. This baby's got new tires in 2024, an updated radio, and a solid list of maintenance notes that indicate a well sorted car that's ready to rock and roll in the sun.
Exterior
Aerodynamics and handling were the key to this generation, and it shows up in Lemans Blue in good condition and the aftermarket front nose piece provides a more aggressive look. This one has a Corvette emblem affixed that could use a refresh and some chin scrapes typically seen on Vette's and other low hanging sports cars. On the sides are the ubiquitous Corvette cove beginning on the front quarter just aft of the wheel wells and continuing throughout the sleek doors with their Italian design rear view body matching mirrors. A beige canvas convertible top with a clear glass rear window is there for when the weather goes awry and could be detailed while a hard tonneau covers the unit when folded. In back, it's oval on oval with oval tail lights and four oval centered exhaust tips. Shiny and tall, (17 & 18-inch respectively), 5 spoke chrome wheels are wrapped in low profile tires with an early 2024 date code. Most of the imperfections on the exterior are reserved for that nose piece, but we did note other random scratches, scuffs, and also some wear on the canvas top including a number of small tears. Curb rash appears on at least two wheels.
Interior
This sculpted interior that ergonomically grabs you starts with tan and beige door panels that are simple and clean and more sporty than luxurious. Restored bucket seats are high back and have plenty of support on the bolsters and offer power adjustment, all while being in fine condition. More curvaceous curves for the molded console and dash with its glowing number and lettered gauges under the driver's curved dash top which features a heads up display. An upgraded radio with touch screen and backup camera is in place in the center stack, as well as dual climate controls for each passenger. Beige carpeting floods the floors and rear storage area which also wears a Corvette branded black carpeted mat. Throughout the interior, there are hints of usage, many of which could be erased with careful detailing of the surfaces.
Drivetrain
Under the hood in a clean engine bay is the 5.7 liter LS1 power plant showing as a V8. It is fed by EFI and has a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission. On the back to help spin the tires and get respectable gas mileage is a 2.73 rear axle and of course, power disc brakes are on all four wheels to tame its 345 horses. We note some damage to the insulation pad on the hood which could definitely use a refresh. Our consignor says that the radiator, water pump, belts, pulleys, and idlers were replaced at some point with OEM parts and the battery is new in 2024.
Undercarriage
Driver quality underneath with episodes of typical surface rust for a car with mid mileage. Dual exhaust travels through original equipment mufflers before heading out to Quad Tip city. The complex suspension, adapted from race cars and previous gens, is made up of independent SLA forged aluminum upper and lower control arms and steering knuckle, transverse mono leaf springs, and a steel stabilizer bar and spindle offset for the front, and for the rear, independent 5 link design with toe and camber adjustment, cast aluminum upper and lower control arms and knuckle, transverse mono leaf spring, steel tie rods and stabilizer bar and tubular U-jointed metal matrix composite driveshaft. WHEW!! All that to say, this thing is sport tuned for turns!
Drive-Ability
Our car for this consignment fired right up and worked immediately to get to the test loop. Here it handled like it was on rails, was very quiet on the road noise front, and gave us a comfortable ride with all working functions for the interior conveniences. In fact, all systems work as they should on this well maintained Vette. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
A great looking color combo, new tires, and an interior that hugs you and supports you in your pursuit of speed and handling. The 2004 Corvette is a fantastic sports car and still represents a bargain when you consider how much performance is built in. Here's one you can drive with abandon as it's not a pristine concours winner. Drop the top and enjoy the open air. Just be ready to be the center of attention at stop lights.
